Water is essential for our everyday lives. It is incorporated into our lives to grow our food, to clean ourselves, and wash our clothes and dishes. It is just as important to have in our bodies. The body is made up with over 50% of water. Water is a good way to keep your skin looking healthy, to help you perspire so you don’t overheat, and to carry nutrients throughout your body to keep it working right. Without enough water in our system, we are at risk of dehydration. Dehydration hinders the body from properly performing necessary bodily functions like removing wastes and protecting our vital organs. It is one of the main factors of fatigue and dizziness, two things that are not very helpful when exercising. You want to be able to sweat and you want to be able to perform your best when you are working out. Water is helpful to keep your joints lubricated to execute a movement correctly. It is helpful in the long run to prevent future injury inside and outside of a gym. Dehydration is easily avoidable. To ensure you are drinking enough water, it is recommended that the average person drinks 2.7 liters a day. This translates to around 8-9 cups of water. A good way to remember this is to try and drink a cup every hour. A cup of water when you first wake up is a great way to get your body system started and warmed up for the rest of the day ahead. So remember to drink water for your overall health and to strengthen your metabolism.
