Whenever someone has to do bimetallic combination tubing at that time carbon steel pipe is used as a base pipe. Carbon steel pipe suppliers are believed to be one of the best pipes. Carbon steel pipe suppliers are providing thin and strong pipes, which are easier to adjust. Carbon is a cost-effective material for making pipes. Carbon steel is a durable material that is basically a mixture of iron and carbon and is also called alloy steel pipe. One can find various carbon steel suppliers who can provide you with the best service possible as these pipes are now produced on a large scale.

Advantages of using carbon steel pipes

The main advantage of using carbon steel pipes is:

  • These pipes have high strength.

  • These pipes have good toughness.

  • These pipes have bearing strength.

  • These pipes have good plasticity and impact resistance.

  • These pipes have a thin wall thickness, to save metal.

What are the types of steel pipes?

  • Welded pipes (ERW PIPES)

Welded pipes are those pipes in which sheets of metal or alloys are turned into a round or circular shape by a plate bending or roller machine. Carbon steel welded pipe are also available and their welding is mostly done with the help of MIG welding. The high carbon steels are difficult to bend but the low carbon steels can easily be bent even at room temperature. For example, C1008, C1018, A36, A1011 and A500 are some of the low carbon steel which is easy to be welded.

Medium carbon steel requires some heat to make them get welded. They are also heated again once they are welded to avoid cracks. Mostly black iron pipes are easy to bend because they contain low carbon steel and can be welded to most grades of steel. One example of welded pipes is the API 5L ERW Pipe which is electric resistance welded pipe that is made of steel material that has carbon, nickel, manganese, copper, sulphur etc. This pipe is of good quality and has good hardness. These pipes have more roughness than seamless pipes.

  • Seamless pipes

Seamless pipes are those pipes that do not have any welding seam. These pipes are also called seamless tubes. They are made with the help of solid steel.

Example of seamless pipe API 5L Grade B Pipe: These are common pipes used for oil and gas pipeline transmission. These pipes are also called L245 pipes. These pipes have higher carbon content. These pipes are much stronger than grade A pipes.

  • Galvanized pipe

These pipes are used for distributing water in urban as well as rural areas. The best thing about these pipes is that they are light in weight and can be easily handled. These pipes are affordable. These pipes are also called sewage pipes and water pipes. The maximum life of these pipes is 100 years. These pipes are dipped in a huge zinc coating to prevent corrosion. One can also suffer from fever if the pipes are very old because of the mixing up of lead in the water.
