The popular London Westend theatre is running the award winning show, The Phantom of the Opera with packed houses since its debut. The award winning musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber is an enthralling experience. The classic show is a fabulous masterpiece which has celebrated its 25th anniversary in the year 2011 followed by more than 11,000 performances.
The captivating London musical is a delightful experience for theatre lovers. The Phantom of the Opera has won more than 50 prestigious awards. The popular London show, The Phantom of the Opera is adapted from a famous classic French thriller. The show is set against the backdrop of Paris Opera House. It revolves around a terrifying and myth bound ghost. The disfigured phantom haunts the old French opera house. He falls in love with a young and beautiful soprano, Christine.
The blockbuster show, Phantom of the Opera is a musical phenomenon featuring some extravagant sets, costumes and special effects. On October 9, 1986, the show made its remarkable debut and has played more than 11,000 shows at Her Majesty's Theatre. The show has been staged all across 90 cities with more than 50 theater awards.
Since December 2016, Ben Forster is portraying the title role of Phantom and mesmerizing audience with its sterling performance. In the year 1986, Michael Crawford starred in the original production. The role was later performed by some wonderful actors like Ramin Karimloo. Currently, Celinde Schoenmaker plays Christine DaaƩ (with Harriet Jones on certain nights), Nadim Naaman plays Raoul, Paul Ettore Tabone plays Ubaldo PIangi and Lara Martins plays Carlotta as of December 2016.
The show is winner of prestigious Laurence Olivier awards. It has won various awards Award for Outstanding Performance in a Musical for Michael Crawford (who was part of the cast when it opened) in 1986 and Olivier Audience Award for Most Popular Show in 2002. With chartbusting musical numbers, the show is a complete audio visual treat for theatre lovers. Some of the popular musical numbers include The Music Of The Night, Why So Silent? and The Point Of No Return, amongst others.
The Phantom of the Opera is loved by people of all age groups. The show is enjoyed by most people, with frequent guests to the theatre and first timers. The musical is recommended for children from age 10 and children under age 5 will not be admitted. The show has certain scenes which are scary. The Phantom of the Opera runs approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes including intermission.
