There’s nothing more important than your data.

Someone can steal your server, torch your building, nuke Honolulu...as long as you have your data, your business can stay up and running.

The problem is most data resides on your network. And though I expect Honolulu, Hawaii to stay a happy little place to do business for a very long time, it’s supercritical you safeguard your data and ensure you can restore your network in the event of catastrophe.

If your company needs network support in Honolulu? Here are the 5 questions to ask:

  • Who has access to what?

  • Where does the data truly reside?

  • What is important to the business?

  • Is it safe?

  • Can it still be accessed if the office burned down?

Your network needs TLC just like every other facet of your business. It should be fast, efficient and safe.

But not everyone needs access to everything. Setup privileges. Some data is sensitive. Protect it with user profiles.

Centralize the data on your network. Letting people store stuff on their local drive is a big mistake. Designate one drive for warehousing all data and make sure that data is getting backed up.

Now, add a 2nd drive or network device to backup that data, so now you have 2 drives with duplicate info. This is good in case one drive dies - and they always do.

And then set up offsite back. Use Carbonite or a similar service.

You may even want to consider moving your business to Google Apps for Work. This will give you the ability to do business anytime, anywhere provided you have an internet connection.

It’s smart business.
